Oceania Conference 2023
The annual JET Alumni Association Oceania Conference brings together JETAA committee members from all over Australia, New Zealand and Singapore along with representatives from CLAIR to discuss ways in which we can make JETAA more meaningful to our members and continue our support of the JET Programme and returnees. Over the weekend, many discussions and workshops are held to improve and foster better cooperation between JETAA Chapters.
This year, thanks to the kind support of the Consulate-General’s office and CLAIR, JETAA VIC/TAS/SA has the honour of hosting the JETAA Oceania Conference which is being held in Melbourne on the 27th to the 29th of October. This year’s theme is Community we are looking forward to inviting you all to join us for a special event during the conference.
The Consulate-General of Japan in Melbourne is, once again, kindly opening up his residence to welcome the delegates on the Friday night and we look forward to having another wonderful evening speaking with other leaders of the Japanese community. This will be followed by 2 days of presentations, discussions and workshops designed to bring forth ideas and methods to increase the value of our community for ourselves and others.
In keeping with the theme of Community, we are holding a networking event in conjunction with the Australia-Japan Business Council of Victoria (AJBCV) on Saturday the 28th of October, 3pm at The Prince Alfred in Carlton. Along with the conference delegates and CLAIR, we welcome anyone interested in Japan and Japanese companies in Melbourne to come along. This will be a great opportunity to meet many different people at all levels within Japanese companies and perhaps some employers looking to meet people with experience working in Japan. We’re looking forward to announcing our guest speaker who was a JET when the Programme was in its infancy over 30 years ago. There’s no need to RSVP, but if you’d like to stay in contact, please reach out and join us on our Facebook group.
